As I mentioned, I’m not really into making resolutions, but January 1st just really is a good time to start new things.
The most surprising thing I just decided to start on the first was an existence free of Diet Coke. I’m a huge Diet Coke fiend, and I know that drinking as much as I did isn’t ideal. (It’s free at work, so I didn’t really have to think twice about drinking lots of it.) I’m pleased to report that I haven’t had any of it ALL YEAR.
While I’ve stopped drinking Diet Coke cold turkey, it took me about a week to realize that the headaches I was getting mid-afternoon were from lack of caffeine. (Whoops!) I’ve started having a cup of either black coffee or tea each morning and they have totally gone away.
I also started an account with My Fitness Pal and have been food journaling again. I’d like to be back at the weight I was right after my first 5K by the end of 2014. (I think I can handle less than a pound a week.)
Weight’s always been kind of a weird thing for me, since I don’t actually change shape much, I just get less jiggly in the middle. I weighed 45 pounds less in the photo above than I do right now, but all the clothes I still have from then (October 2010) still fit, with the exception of a pair of incredibly skinny jeans.
I was also doing Weight Watchers when the photo above was taken, and while I didn’t rejoin, I do remember a lot of the good eating habits and have been putting those into practice.
Anyways, here’s my weight loss ticker to keep me honest. If you see me with cake, tell me to drop it! I’m pretty pleased to say that I’ve lost six pounds in the first two weeks of 2014.
